I recently wrote on essay on the Cleveland Cultural Gardens–Mark Tebeau, "Sculpted Places"--that is somewhere now in the submission/review loop for publication. We are reading it, on Wednesday, in the Local History Seminar as a way of understanding one of our research sites this semester. Likewise, the Cleveland Cultural Gardens website created collaboratively by me and students in previous semesters should be viewed–and delved deeply into!
Ask yourself: What are the gardens’ story? Are they singular or plural? How do they change over time? Why do they change over time? What is the essence of the relationship between people and the landscape? How does that shape place?
