I read Goodnight Moon to the kids, when they were little. We identified the items on the page, as they fell asleep to the staccato, somnolent cadence of the book. We noticed how odd the story was, though very earnest in its familial 1950s interpretation of American life, it had a surrealistic edge as elements in the room appeared, disappeared, and morphed. Still, it was something of a family favorite. Well, it a Bush parody has now appeared, to brilliant and hilarious effect. It would actually make you laugh aloud, if it weren’t so deeply disturbing. Well worth the $10 investment; the afterward is especially interesting.
